Nothing Was Wasted

They tried to define me
before they ever knew me.
Single mom.
Eight kids.
They built a box
and expected me to climb inside it.
Never not me
They assumed struggle.
They assumed lack.
They assumed I was someone
who needed saving.
But I’ve never been a charity case.
Not because life was gentle —
but because God refused
to let their assumptions
become my story.
The tragedy,
the childhood wounds,
the heartache,
the pain that pressed against my bones —
none of it was wasted.
It didn’t kill me.
It didn’t count me out.
It became the very material
God used to rebuild me.
And what I love —
what I love love love —
is how God brings
everything full circle.
The things that weren’t good…
still worked for my good.
All things work together
for the good of those who love God
and are called
according to His purpose.
Romans 8:28 isn’t just scripture.
It’s the map of my life.
God gathered every piece —
even the ones people called trash,
even the ones life tried to sweep away —
and He turned them into a beautiful story.
My pain didn’t just break me.
It built me.
It positioned me.
It prepared me.
I am not who they assumed I would be.
I am who God always knew I could be.
And if you’re reading this,
I want you to hear me.
Nothing —
And I do mean nothing —
in your life is wasted.
Not the hurt.
Not the healing.
Not the recovery.
Not the grief.
God can use every piece —
even the ones you thought
were too shattered to matter —
and turn them into a beautiful story.
